Being a Good Neighbor...

Won’t you be a good neighbor?...

Here is a recap of the complaints/suggestions the board has received from our website or in the aisles of Hi Nabor. Please note that we understand that what bothers some doesn’t faze others. We just report it as we get it...

1. Crazy driving! Be it speeding or running stop signs, most of you have an opinion. Let’s just agree to stop when we see a stop sign and try to keep it under 30 miles per hour until we reach Jefferson Highway. You are on your own after that!

2. Parking on the grass. This is the single biggest issue whether you are for or against “yard-parking”. Be aware- it is illegal to park any vehicle, boat, camper or whatever on the grass or servitude. Don’t blame us-it’s the city!

3. Pets who poop in a yard other than their own. Love them or hate them, they gotta go. Please do not let your animals run free and freely poop.

4. Pets who bark all day and night. Talk to your neighbors and try to work this out. The board is not responsible for puppy mediation.

5. Pets with no ID. See a trend here? Please make sure your animals have an identification tag as well as a current rabies tag. Those of us who love your babies can’t return them without an address. This goes for your children too.

6. Yard upkeep. This runs the gamut from not edging your curb, trees overhanging sidewalks to your trash cans staying on the curb for days. Do we have any industrious kids out there that can help here. Not a bad little business to help some take care of business. I know it’s hot but we can keep the hood looking good.

7. Security break downs. (This is from the President, guys.) During the weekend of July 4, I drove around and saw MANY homes with multiple newspapers in the driveway. We need to be the first line of defense for our own security. Arrange to have your newspapers and mail picked up or stop delivery. Turn on your porch lights at night with energy-saving bulbs and Light Up The Night! The security patrols can help those that help themselves.

8. PODS! A few have mentioned the long-term lease of PODS in several yards. Turns out there is an ordinance about PODS. Who knew?  I ask everyone to be patient and work with your neighbors. As one neighbor told me, “I would love to hurry this along. These things cost money!”

9. So we all know that signs taped on stop signs and wherever is illegal. All we can say is adhere to #5 and we can take care of that. Garage sales are another matter.
